AFRICA TRAVEL GUIDE

There’s something special about Africa. Whether it’s the magical sunsets, ancient traditions, friendly locals or vibrant culture, it takes a hold of you. Not to mention Africa’s stunning scenery from lush jungle, the pristine white sand beaches of Zanzibar, endless rolling sand dunes of the Namib desert, the vast lands of the Serengeti or the beautiful vineyards of Southern Africa.

Oh and wildlife- and lots of it! Africa is home to some of the worlds most loved and endangered animals- including the big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard & buffalo). There are many incredible safari adventures to be enjoyed, with Tanzania, Kenya and Botswana being a few of the most popular places for wildlife viewing. Etosha National park in Namibia holds a truly unique landscape, somewhat different to its more Northern counterparts.

Wherever you go in Africa you will be sure to find adventure, scenery, wildlife and a wonderful uplifting spirit from the local people. Each country has a different culture or landscape, just leaving you wanting to go back for more. Visiting Africa, you will be sure of a life changing experience.

BEST TIME TO VISIT AFRICA

East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda)

Dry season: June to October and December to February are considered the best times to see the most wildlife, due to the animals congregating at the watering holes.

Wet season: March to May and mid-October to mid-December are the two rainy seasons. The benefit of travelling in these seasons is that the landscape will be a lush green and generally it will be quieter and cheaper on the tour groups.

Southern Africa (Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa)

Dry season: April to October is thought to be best for wildlife viewing, plus much cooler temperatures.

Wet season:November to March is the wet season, however this is the best time for birdwatchers and for viewing baby animals. Also, this is a great time for the beaches in South Africa.

North Africa (Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia)

Dry season: Generally dry year-round further in from the coast. The best time to visit is during spring (mid-March to May) and Autumn (September to October). June to August is dry but can be particularly hot, especially in the Sahara Desert.

Wet season: The rainy season in the coastal areas is November to January, however this may be a good time to visit the pyramids in Egypt due to much cooler temperatures.

West Africa: (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone)

Dry season: October to March is generally cooler and the best time for wildlife life viewing, however it can get dry from December when the dusty wind blows over from the Sahara.

Wet season: The North sees rain during July to September, whilst the southern part of West Africa has 2 wet seasons from April to mid-July and again in September and October. Aside from Ghana a lot of places here will be impassable in the rain, due to lack of paved roads.
