If you’re looking for cool street art photography shots then get yourself over to Hosier Lane in Melbourne!
Diverse, cultural, artsy Melbourne is Australia’s second largest city and pretty much defines the word hipster. From cool Northern neighbourhoods like Fitzroy and Brunswick to stylish high rises in the city and huge houses south of the Yarra river, Melbourne certainly lives up to its trendy image.
This modern city has diverse neighbourhoods and areas, including a variety of cuisines from Lebanese to Vietnamese, plus numerous cafes, bars and food festivals. It’s also huge on coffee, well that’s true for most of Australia! But especially so in Melbourne and of the couple of hundred lane ways in the city you will sure find a great coffee shop around every corner.
Hosier Lane is one of the most popular lane ways in Melbourne ( and Rutledge Lane just off from Hosier Lane). Why? Because it has been taken over by extraordinary street art. Tourists and street photographers descend on Hosier Lane to take photos of the ever changing art on display. The graffiti is incredibly expressive, graphic, colourful and political.

Hosier Lane art can change daily so every time you visit something will have popped up. If you’re there long enough you may even catch an artist in the act! There are some walking tours that will take you here and explain a bit about the history or you can stroll around in you’re own time. The more you look the more you will see, art is on everything from the walls, bins, railings and floors.
The essence of Melbourne is it’s art and cafe scene and it’s not just Hosier Lane where the graffiti artists flock. You will see street art all over the city and especially around the arty suburbs of Brunswick and Fitzroy. Although not everyone’s cup of tea the most of the art on display is of superb quality and talent and best of all it’s free!
So if street and graffiti photography is your thing, you will love Hosier Lane. Although I believe anyone can appreciate the skilful work here and enjoy walking though this mind blowing lane way.

Wow, cool place, cool photos and cool blog! Keep up the continuous content and good work, inspiring me to travel and see new places!
Just curious did this laneway art make you feel like you wanted to contribute and pick up a spray can or brush to add your own artwork to it : ) I like the contrast between night and day photo shots above as well to showcase the vibe it in a different light ( pardon the pun)
Thank you ๐ No I left the art to the professionals!
