♥ A list of items I always take with me on my travels ♥ These are the items I never leave home without!

Compact Camera

This is a great little camera for amateur photographers but with the ability to shoot in raw you can get great quality photos also. It’s so lightweight and I can fit it in my pocket so it’s perfect for exploring a new place. It has a great auto function so super easy to use! For all the features check it out at: Amazon UK or Amazon US

External Hard Drive

You can’t take thousands of photos if you’ve got nowhere to back them up! Instead of slowing your laptop down, this can hold thousands of images and is so small and lightweight you can take it with you on your travels! This is the one I have and it has served me well for a few years now. Buy it on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Cabin Luggage Bag

The bag I use for carry on is by Cabin Zero but there are plenty of bags on Amazon specifically for carry on. They are the same dimensions for most airlines so give you the maximum about of luggage space whilst still being able to fit in the overhead bins!  Search for your perfect bag on Amazon UK or Amazon US

The Main Bag

OK so my bag which is not available anymore was bought for £35 way back in 2007 and it’s still going in 2018! (although a little dirty haha). This one from Mountain Warehouse looks very similar to the one I have and is a very good price! It has a smaller detachable day backpack like my one- this is so useful for walking around a new city or for a small day hike, etc. The size is 60l which is not those super huge ones you see some people wearing but it’s still pretty big and can hold a lot stuff. For me it’s the perfect size. The best bit about this is that it is a front loader, that means it opens like a suitcase so you can grab anything from the bag without having to dig to the bottom like a top loader.  Trust me it saves valuable time and avoids a messy chaos! Check it out at either Amazon UK or Amazon US

Comfy Running shoe

You need a comfortable set of shoes for travelling, as you inevitably will end up doing a fair amount of walking. Running shoes are great, I have some from the Nike Volmero range and they have great cushioning which is good for my bad knees, plus soo comfortable. The plus side is that you can wear them around town, on a day hike or what they are supposed to be used for- running! Since I’ve bought these shoes I’ve taken them on every trip so they’ve become an essential now 🙂 To find a design for you head to Amazon UK or Amazon US

Microfibre Towel

Another great essential for the backpacker, these towels are great if you want to save space and weight. They soak up twice as much water as normal towels but dry twice as fast! Microfibre towels are so lightweight plus they roll up pretty small too.  Find your at Amazon UK or Amazon US

Travel Wall Charger

These are essential on the road and small enough not to take up much room. The ability to charge through usb is a life saver! Check out the Anker usb charger which has a powerful charge: Amazon UK or Amazon US

Packing cubes

These have changed the way I pack- for the better! Firstly they help you get as much space as you can and secondly they help you stay organised. You will find heaps on amazon and they are cheap too! Buy on Amazon UK or Amazon US

 Padlocks

You can’t travel without padlocks! These new cable ones are also great for tying your bags to something in the hostel if there are no lockers. Find them on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Memory Cards

Obviously a must have item! I always find San Disk to be very reliable and the Extreme Pro supports 4k video and is speedy. Find yours at Amazon UK or Amazon US

Toiletry Bag

A good bag to hold your toiletries is a must and this one is compact and lays flat, saving lots of packing room! Find it on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Dry Bag

These dry bags are so versatile. I use them if its pouring rain to keep my camera and phone dry or when I’m doing water sports or on a boat trip, etc where it may get wet. And I also use it as a laundry bag! They keep valuables totally dry and come and various sizes! Take a look on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Portable Charger

These are a life saver if you are having to share sockets in hostel rooms or are going off the beaten track and will have nowhere to charge your camera (that would be a disaster!). The Anker Powerbank weighs very little but can charge the iPhone 8 almost seven times! Get yours at Amazon UK or Amazon US

Travel Journal

I never leave home without something to write in. Travel diary’s are worth doing and can be pretty amusing reading them back several years later! Buy yours at Amazon UK or Amazon US

A Good Book

Nothing beats a good old book to jump into on planes, trains, buses and hammocks 🙂 I’m a slow reader so if I’m only travelling for a couple of months then 1 or 2 books are fine for me so easy to pack. This one is perfect for solo travelling! Buy on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Kindle

If you know you will get through a lot of books or you are travelling for a long time then get yourself a kindle. The battery lasts ages and you’ve got thousands of books to choose from- plus you can add more along the way! Find yours on Amazon UK or Amazon US

Go Pro!

The Go Pro has become a staple gadget in so many backpacks, due to it being such an all-rounder. It’s waterproof, tough and great for capturing water sports, zip lining and everything else action wise! Plus it doesn’t take up much room. This is the latest go Pro HERO (2018) and is more budget friendly than the HERO 6.

Digital Camera

If you want great shots, then it’s worth investing in a good camera. This is the Sony RX100M3, the slightly later one that I have at the moment. Even the earlier version is an excellent point and shoot camera (on the higher end of the scale). It takes great low light photos, has wifi capabilities and a tilt-able viewfinder so you can see yourself. Plus the photos are pretty high quality for the price you pay. If you are an amateur photographer like me then this is a great camera to get you started. It’s also small enough and light enough to fit in your pocket.

Well I don’t need to go into too much detail I’m sure! This is a must unless you want to get bitten to death! Jungle Formula I have found to be my favourite (not sure it’s sold in US so I’ve put Amazon’s choice of Repel which also does the job well!).
