ABU DHABI TRAVEL GUIDE

Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is a smaller, less crazy version of neighbouring Dubai. It’s actually the capital of the United Arab Emirates and is slowly beginning to become more popular with tourists. I visited here on a stopover and the smooth transition from the airport was second to none.

You cannot visit Abu Dhabi without visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. It’s truly spectacular Islamic architecture with leave you with chills. Even though it can get busy, it was still so peaceful and quiet walking around- which you can do for hours by the way.

Aside from its stunning mosque, you can also explore the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened its doors in 2017. Even if it’s just to see the impressive building from the outside alone! The contemporary art inside will satisfy any art lover, and what a stunning and unusual setting for an art gallery.

For those who love formula one, check out Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Ferrari World. Or walk by the waterfront along the Corniche, to check out the city beach, before heading the Yas Mall for a bit of shopping. If staying longer head out to the desert for a camel ride or 4×4 drive!

Abi Dhabi is a truly up and coming, modern city with an air of excitement all around.

SOLO FEMALE TRAVEL IN ABU DHABI

Travelling alone in Abu Dhabi, I found so easy and simple. Using the reputable taxi’s, I found them extremely professional, polite and welcoming. The taxi drivers were very friendly but didn’t keep talking to you either, and I felt very comfortable travelling by myself.

It is a very conservative country however, and if not at the beach then I would definitely show respect by covering up. If visiting the mosque, you will need to be covered from head to toe, but they will give you an abaya to wear once inside.

December to February is winter and has the coolest weather, however this does mean it will be very busy, with higher prices for accommodation.

Spring and Autumn (April to May and September to October) are some of the best times to visit Abu Dhabi, with the weather being much more pleasant but with slightly fewer crowds.

Summer (June to August) will be very hot!
