THAILAND TRAVEL GUIDE
Thailand is the perfect country for first time backpackers. It’s full of activity from jumping off waterfalls, trekking in the rainforest, exploring the sacred temples, wandering through the busy markets, parting the night away the full moon party or jet skiing on the coast. There’s so much to do in this vibrant and fun country.
The local people are so smiley and happy to greet you and the local food is delicious. From pad thai, to juicy noodle soups and fresh seafood dishes, there’s always something to get your mouth watering. Being a Buddhist country, Thailand has many temples and retreats situated throughout the country and many of them welcome tourists. This is a great way to find out more about the local culture and to find a bit of serenity at the same time.
Let’s not forget Thailand’s most beautiful islands, with pristine turquoise water, perfect for diving and snorkelling (especially off Koh Tao). There are also many water sports to enjoy on certain islands, as well as lively beach parties popular with backpackers. For a quieter and unspoiled island head to Koh Yao Noi, Koh Kradan, or Koh Lanta.
From the exciting capital of Bangkok, stunning nature of Kao Sok national park to the to the old temple ruins in the historical parks of Sukhothai and Ayutthaya- Thailand will leave you wanting more.
SOLO FEMALE TRAVEL IN THAILAND
Thailand is one of the best places to travel solo as a woman. You very rarely get any harassment and its safe to walk alone at night in the main areas. Although there may be less safe parts of the cities and towns (as most countries) you generally will find it very safe and easy to get about in main areas.
English is widely spoken, and transport is not hard to navigate. There are plenty of hostels and other females travelling alone just the same so its always easy to make friends. I found it one of my favourite countries in the world for solo female travel.
BEST TIME TO VISIT THAILAND
Dry season: From November to February you will find cooler weather, although it will be very busy and higher prices for hotels. March to May are still pretty dry but very hot.
Wet season: May to October is rainy season, with June to August being the wettest months.
It’s still good to check weather, where you are headed to as some of the islands can be sunny in the north and wet in the south (or vice versa).
